My Fanuc lathe was connected via an old PC which had a serial port, it transferred programs via the modified serial cable without any problem, The PC finally died. I have connected a usb serial cable to my mac mini with OS Catalina, the serial port is recognised but when i try to load the program from the mac i get a buffer overload error 87. I can upload it step by step but it is a bit tedious. Any thoughts

Sounds like Flow Control.
In the easyDNC setup make sure flow control is enabled. Usually XonXoff.
