Hi, was using v2.1 for many years, PC hardware failed and now trying to upgrade to V 4.7. Am i able to reuse the old .ini files from 2.1 in 4.7. There seem to be 4 new parameters in the v 4.7 machine ini file?

Most people don't look or edit directly into the ini file.

But yes. It should be readable. Can't remember if it has the same name. Maybe rename it if necessary.

I'd say copy it into the program folder. Start v4 and go into setup. It should populate the missing values with defaults.

Thanks for the help, that worked just fine! I now have my machine definitions back. The addition 4 parameters for each machine were added as you described. My next challenge is to try the 4 port PCI serial card in the new PC but I suspect I'm not going to be able to get drivers for it unless the old XP drivers work with Win7 (x32).

If I need a new serial card is there a 'tried and tested' hardware list that has been tested with EasyDNC?

Sorry. we can't really recommend any specific hardware. Doesn't the PCI card manufacturer offer drivers for Win7? Or maybe they have a new card that they do have drivers for.

Thanks, the original Acer PC was setup in 2005 with Win XP home ed 32 bit & EasyDNC v2.1 Never ever had a problem up to now, the system was used every weekday for the last 17 years so we can't complain! The serial card was an MRI 4 port PCI card, MRI have long gone and I can't find any drivers for W7 or 10. I could reuse the serial card with XP but we should really try to move on... So i'll try a Startech PEX4S952 - 4 port card.

Can I use EasyDNC 4.7 on w10 ? The operators in the MC shop like it as it's look and feel is familiar to them after so long using v2.1?

We're using 4.7 on all our Windows 10 workstations. As you said, it is pretty much identical to the good old v2.

I gather that the only real difference is the compatibility with windows 7 (easydnc for seven) and future versions of Windows.
